"All of the host families seemed wonderful, loving and attentive. They all seemed to fit perfectly with their students. The directors did an outstanding job and I would imagine it's the same support, care and attention they provide to the students and host families. Everything was well-prepared, professional and welcoming - from the information they imparted about the cities on tours, making sure we had water, they went above and beyond. You truly have outstanding and phenomenal Directors in Costa Rica!" View Less

"It is without doubt, that the students are speaking Spanish even when no teachers or directors are around. I overheard so many conversations on the bus, or just walking around on city tours, and they were speaking only Spanish to each other! This proves that the fabulous work of the directors, University staff and the host families contribute to full Spanish language immersion! I cannot speak highly enough about the host family selection! They exceeded my expectations and it all brought joy to my heart. As a study abroad advisor it is crucial to know that our students will be loved and well taken care of regardless of what family they will be placed in. " View Less

"The community and volunteer activities cover a wide range, and so all students could find something that fits with their own interests and future plans. Students were all very happy with their host families, and spoke affectionately of their "mama tica". Sol Education Abroad has an extensive network of host families - about 100 of them, I was impressed with that. At the end of the program, not only the student, but also the host family fill out a program evaluation, so that any issues can be addressed. The well-managed homestay is clearly a very strong asset of the SOL program. I think the Sol Education Abroad program is a fantastic fit for many of our International Studies majors, and those focused on sustainability or social sciences in general. " View Less

"To say that I was impressed with Sol Education would be quite an understatement. I feel that my own one-week visit was almost as life-changing as the experience that I would hope my students to have. I was impressed with the many different educational opportunities that are available to students so that students at any level of Spanish can have their academic needs met. The cultural activities that I participated in were well thought out and smoothly run. The Sol Education program in Buenos Aires appears to run like a well-oiled machine. The students that I met appeared extremely engaged in the culture and happy about the program. Sol Education would be a fabulous fit for Lynchburg College students. I am certain that our small college students would feel at home in the close community of the Sol Education program even in the immense city that is Buenos Aires. I will be recommending a Sol Education program to all of my students interested in studying abroad!" View Less

The students that we were able to meet clearly loved the program as well. This environment helped me to see how much of a great fit this would be for our students here at Cardinal Stritch. Not only does the program offer a competitive price (our students are predominantly lower income), but it offers an array of experiences that could be life changing." View Less

"I have led Social Work programs all over the world for the past 10 years, and SOL Education Abroad in Costa Rica is the most professional and meaningful that I have experienced. From the first contact with SOL Education, we were “sold!” The staff members were very responsive and provided an alternative Spring Break trip in Heredia, Costa Rica that was tailored to our specific requests! The students obtained an educational experience related to the violence against women that could not have been replicated in the classroom. Further, the service learning component of the trip allowed students to engage in positive social change efforts that allowed them to collaborate with the individuals experiencing the social injustice. The opportunities were unique and rare and only possible due to the relationships SOL Education has with the members of its community. In addition to the professional growth that occurred during the educational and service learning components of the trip, the students grew personally through their interactions with the locals. Living with host families within a community was the most rewarding experience! The personal attention, love, and respect provided to us had a profound effect on all involved and forged, what will become, lifelong friendships! " View Less

"I have got to say, this may be my favorite of all the site visits I’ve done. Thank you so much for your hospitality. While I did also participate on the Argentina SOL group site visit a couple years ago, I feel that this site visit was so much fuller and richer, in that I got to participate in the student orientation, the student city tour, and was invited to the SOL Granada office and shown detailed information about how students are placed with host families, and the correspondence between the program director and students. I will be able to better advise the students about the program now, and…words cannot express how much I loved it. It’s an amazing program. Your host families all seem wonderful, the schools you work with are excellent, and Granada itself is an amazing place. Thank you again Germán, for everything you did to make it a great visit.
