"I thoroughly enjoyed all of the cultural activities (except yoga, because I'm writing my 7 page paper due this week, so I'm skipping that one tonight). I am a history buff and the amount of culture/history that I learned at Monte Alban, Mitla, and Santo Domingo was incredible. The tour of the library at Santo Domingo was amazing and I sincerely hope that is able to continue. The artisanal workshops were incredible. Beyond the alebrijes (I loved the movie Coco, and was so excited to see the workshop), there were so many things I never knew I NEEDED to see and learn. The pottery, weavers, alebrijes, stencils, and palenque...every stop was a wonderful experience and I truly enjoyed all of it. I am already a Spanish Education major, so that will stay the same. However, I have seen a side of Mexico that is completely the opposite of everything I have ever seen in the media back home. I am in love with Oaxaca in particular and cannot wait to bring my children back here to experience some of the amazing things I did. I'm afraid Mexico may get sick of me. " View Less

"This is my third program I have done with SOL (so I already had high expectations) and the Oaxaca program well exceeded my expectations. Oaxaca was by far my favorite program I did (Costa Rica and Spain being the others) and I think mainly because of the directors. They did a great job ensuring the activities were great and that everyone acclimated well - I could not be any happier with the directors we had! It was very apparent the directors actually cared about us and wanted to get to know us. They were super helpful and great resources when it came to anything we could need help with. They went out of their way to make sure we had a good time in Oaxaca and listened to our opinions to ensure future students have a good time as well. " View Less

My professor accommodated different learning styles and was always available for extra help. I LOVED MY FAMILY! They helped me with my Spanish and include me in their lives. I really enjoyed spending time with them. I feel so grateful and lucky to have lived with a family that welcomes me into their lives like they have. " View Less

For example, she took me to the chiropractor my back was hurting and now I feel amazing! I know that is not something that she was obligated to do but she gladly took me and I appreciate that very much. She also gave wonderful recommendations on where to go and what to do and what not to do to stay safe in this country. Without her this trip would not have been as wonderful as it was! Thank you for a life changing experience. I will forever remember my time is Heredia." View Less

"Although I have enjoyed a long career as a professional education abroad administrator, I never actually studied abroad. So, when the timing and opportunity presented itself, I chose Sol Education Abroad. And I am so glad I did! I have long wanted to study Spanish in an immersive setting and the Sol program in Argentina was ideal. Sol provided just the right amount of challenge and support I needed to thrive in Buenos Aires and commit to learning Spanish. Hey, it is never too late to study abroad! Muchas Gracias to the Sol Education Abroad team!" View Less

I really enjoyed all of the excursions, more specifically, I really enjoyed the walk up to the Albycin and Sacromonte! I absolutely loved my homestay family! I couldn´t have asked for a better homestay experience. My parents were friendly, clean, and helpful! [My host mom] always made the best meals and made sure my roommate and I were well taken care of. The greatest benefits were being able see my Spanish improve and watching myself grow as a more independent learner. I really grew to love the language and wanted to push myself to continue to know more. This program offers you everything you need in order to feel safe will abroad! The directors will do a great job at taking care of you and you will get the chance to make life-long memories with other students!" View Less

Also, I felt in really great hands with all three of the directors, especially Edu who was always sending out fun things to do and weekly emails. She made my time here even more enjoyable always talking to me about everything that was going on in school, at home, and in life. [My host family], other than my AMAZING roommate, were hands down the best part of my experience. I feel like I am really their daughter, and I can't wait to be able to share more of my life with them even when I am in the states. If everyone could experience their love, it wouldn't be enough. 10/10! Overall, this experience has molded me into a whole new person. I am so blessed to be the person I am today, and I could not be that person without this experience. The things I learned here will, no doubt, follow me through my whole life." View Less

The greatest benefits from this experience was getting out of my comfort zone and taking a leap of faith with living here in Spain. My host mother, my classmates, and the encouragement to travel while being here has been life changing. The biggest challenge has been missing my family, friends, boyfriend, and church community back home. But, it was necessary for me to leave and face these challenges of away from home in order to grow more into the woman I am meant to be!" View Less
