If there was anything that me and my roommate needed we would immediately be offered it. We were well fed, our laundry was taken care of almost everyday, and they were willing to help us with anything regarding our pursuit of learning the Spanish language. To be honest living with this host family is something that I will never forget, and the experience is something I will be always grateful for. Whoever lives with Rosemary and Heraldo next will definitely be in good hands, and they will be lucky to have been chosen to live with this family. " View Less

They introduce me to new people of different ages where I have the opportunity to practice even more. Really, with my family is the only opportunity I have to speak Spanish, and I try to spend as much time as I can with them. " View Less

"My internship has been a great challenge pushing me to understand Spanish at a faster pace and in some cases people with different accents. The work at the social center is very rewarding and having the opportunity to help others and understand life and hardships in another country is incredible and has been vital to my education. This year one of the greatest benefits to my experience is coming back to live with my host family. They have supported me in my internship and with my research and provided me with a home and family that I know I will have forever. " View Less

"This trip was incredible. I got to meet many new and close friends and I also got to really experience life in another country. The host family experience really helped me appreciate the culture and learn the culture. I have done other 3 week experiences but they were moving around and in hostels or hotels. Staying in a host family really made the experience. I also can't stress how great the program is as a whole. I thought the directors were thorough, there were options to go see things outside of planned excursions and the planned excursions were perfect." View Less

"Jessenia, one of my onsite directors, is awesome! She has been amazing at making me feel at home in Costa Rica and helping me find my way here. She's great at getting us the information we need and being professional when necessary but also fun and funny and comforting when she can be. Also, my Mama Tica has been incredible. She always makes an effort to make sure I understand what she is saying and gives me corrections and feedback about how to properly say what I am trying to say. She has been a great teacher. She has cooked me so many different dishes because she really wants me to try many different tastes of Costa Rica, and for that I am so appreciative. She's made me feel at home from the moment I got here, and she's prayed with me for every meal, always has worship music on in the house, and reads and talks about the Bible with me, which are all very important things for me. I love my Mama Tica. In addition, I have been learning so much Spanish. I had an incredible teacher who has taught me a lot in a very fun and easily understandable manner. Also, the fact that we have class everyday, and that we can practice at home, makes all of the information stick a lot better. SOL is a great program for those who want a little guidance around the county on their off time. They will help you feel totally comfortable and explore your place. " View Less

I never felt uncomfortable talking with any of my family members. I enjoy that our house is an upstairs and a downstairs and that my roommate and I don't feel like we are in the way of the family's normal daily lives. My Mama Tica has also encouraged me to talk with her to practice my Spanish and it has been incredibly helpful. Overall, I love this host family and feel blessed to have received them." View Less

""Yeyo" [Oaxaca, Director] was a great director who really knew his stuff. He was very nice and helpful and a great person. Additionally, my host family was fantastic and will be missed. The Oaxacan food my host mom made was delicious and every day she surprised me with more traditional Oaxacan food. I will miss both "Yeyo" and my host family a lot. Additionally, my professor was an amazing teacher that truly showed he loved to teach and made the class extremely fun. I enjoyed sitting in class and learning. Sol Education was a great program to be apart of and I can't wait to recommend it to my friends. " View Less

"I feel incredibly fortunate to have been placed with this family and am very thankful of the SOL directors for finding such a good fit. It's been especially nice to have the company of the twin sons, who are also my age and fellow musicians. They helped me get a used guitar on my first week in Costa Rica! We've enjoyed playing music together ever since. My host mom is fantastic and a terrific cook. I'm glad that each week I'm able to find new ways in Spanish to tell her how much I love her cooking :) Spending time with this family has been a pleasure and has helped tremendously in improving my Spanish.
